Most families whose children attend international schools in Tokyo come to me with a specific concern.

  • Their child is struggling with reading.

  • Math class has become frustrating.

  • Homework takes forever.

  • They aren't keeping up in class.

  • They are having trouble staying focused.

  • They are preparing for an international school entrance assessment.

But... Before we address any of these issues and we will, we need to look at the child.

  • How are they feeling?

  • What is happening at school?

  • What is happening at home?

  • Are they getting enough rest to actually learn?

  • Are they anxious about something?

  • Are they having difficulty understanding the language being used in class?

  • Are they struggling with attention, working memory, organization, or another underlying skill?

These things can affect how a child learns and how they perform at school.

Our role as Learning Specialists is to look at the bigger picture, identify what may be getting in the way, and then determine what kind of support actually makes sense.

If you have concerns about your child's learning or development, let's talk.
