Sometimes, the current school is simply not working for your child.

They may be struggling academically, having difficulty socially, or not getting the support they need.

When this happens, deciding whether to stay or change schools is a serious and often difficult decision for a family.

Before making that decision, I help parents understand what is actually happening for their child.

  • Is there a learning difficulty?

  • An academic gap?

  • A language issue?

  • An executive functioning challenge?

Is the child struggling because they need a different kind of support, or is the school itself not the right fit?

With my background in international education, classroom teaching, learning assessment, and educational therapy, I can help parents look at the situation from an educational perspective and understand what their child needs.

Maybe the answer is additional support at the current school. Or it may be time to consider a different environment.

The most important thing you can do as a parent is to understand the problem before making a major decision about your child's education. Kinota Braithwaite - Learning & Assessment Specialist
