If you already know that your child needs support developing their English, I would not wait until after they are accepted to start working on it.

Your child will need to use English throughout the school day from the moment they start.

Depending on your child's age, they may also need to complete an English language assessment as part of the admissions process.

The amount of support available varies from school to school, so this is something parents should consider when choosing a school. Even with good EAL support in place, giving your child additional time to develop their English before they start can make the transition into the classroom much easier.

If you already know there is a language gap, use the time before you apply to work on it.

We work with children preparing to enter international schools, as well as students who are already enrolled and need targeted support developing the English language skills they need to participate in the classroom. Kinota Braithwaite - Learning & Assessment Specialist
